In his heartfelt message, Madhavan said, “On behalf of the entire Dhurandhar family, thank you all for showering us with so much love. Recently, we learned that some people were hurt by a scene in the film where, while reciting lines from Guru Gobind Singh’s Dasam Granth, I appeared to be smoking a cigarette. I assure you, that is absolutely not correct. There has been a misunderstanding. I clearly remember that before this scene, and well before delivering those lines, Aditya Dhar—who is even more mindful about such matters than I am—asked me to extinguish the cigarette. There is no smoke coming from my mouth, no smoke visible on screen, and no cigarette in my hand during that moment, because this is sacred and pure for all of us.”
He further added, “I had completely put out the cigarette. If you watch the scene carefully, you will see that there is no smoke, no visual indication of smoking anywhere in the frame, and no trace of it until the scene ends. We are fully aware of the sentiments involved and would never want to hurt anyone’s feelings.” The actor was referring to lines associated with Guru Gobind Singh, emphasizing that the scene was handled with utmost care.
Madhavan also reiterated his deep respect for the Sikh community, stating, “We stand with the entire Sikh community and have immense respect for them. I visit the Golden Temple before every film release of mine—this is known to everyone. Please trust our intent.” His clarification aimed to reassure audiences and put an end to the ongoing concerns.
The film, headlined by Ranveer Singh, continues its strong run at the box office, reportedly crossing ₹700 crore worldwide since its release on March 19. Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Arjun Rampal, continuing to remain in the spotlight for both its commercial success and the conversations surrounding it.
