A gripping real-life story of survival and courage is heading to the big screen. Samuel Goldwyn Films has released the official trailer for the French thriller 13 Days, 13 Nights, a tense drama inspired by the dramatic events that unfolded in Kabul during 2021. The film revisits the chaotic days when global forces were withdrawing from Afghanistan and the city was rapidly falling into turmoil. Set against the backdrop of the Taliban takeover of Kabul, the story begins on August 15, 2021, when the Taliban storm the Afghan capital just as U.S. troops prepare to withdraw from Afghanistan. As panic spreads across the city, the French Embassy becomes one of the final Western strongholds, sheltering hundreds of civilians desperate to escape the rapidly collapsing situation. At the center of the story is Commander Mohamed Bida, played by Roschdy Zem, who is tasked with protecting the embassy and organizing the evacuation of nearly 500 people. Inside the compound, tensions rise as fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty grow with each passing day. Bida must navigate a dangerous balance of leadership and diplomacy while negotiating with the Taliban in a desperate attempt to secure safe passage to the airport. Standing beside him is Eva, a courageous Franco-Afghan translator and humanitarian portrayed by Lyna Khoudri. Her determination and local understanding prove crucial as the team works against the clock to organize a final convoy out of Kabul. The cast also includes acclaimed actors Sidse Babett Knudsen and Christophe Montenez, adding further depth to the intense survival drama. The film is directed by renowned French filmmaker Martin Bourboulon, with the screenplay written by Alexandre Smia and Bourboulon himself. Known for crafting large-scale cinematic storytelling, the director brings a suspenseful and emotionally charged lens to this true story of bravery, diplomacy, and human resilience. Over the course of thirteen tense days and nights, the embassy transforms from a sanctuary into a trap as those inside desperately wait for a chance to escape. With every decision carrying life-or-death consequences, the film promises a gripping look at courage under extreme pressure. 13 Days, 13 Nights is scheduled to hit theaters on March 27, 2026, offering audiences a powerful cinematic retelling of one of the most dramatic evacuation missions in recent history.
