Set against the backdrop of the Taliban takeover of Kabul, the story begins on August 15, 2021, when the Taliban storm the Afghan capital just as U.S. troops prepare to withdraw from Afghanistan. As panic spreads across the city, the French Embassy becomes one of the final Western strongholds, sheltering hundreds of civilians desperate to escape the rapidly collapsing situation. At the center of the story is Commander Mohamed Bida, played by Roschdy Zem, who is tasked with protecting the embassy and organizing the evacuation of nearly 500 people.
