Sangeetha Files Petition to Stay in Matrimonial Home Amid Divorce Proceedings With Thalapathy Vijay

Amid ongoing divorce proceedings, Sangeetha, wife of actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay, has filed a fresh petition seeking the right to remain in their matrimonial home. The plea, submitted to the Chengalpattu Family Court, comes as part of the couple’s contentious divorce case, which has been in the headlines since it was initiated on February 27, 2026.

 

In her petition, Sangeetha claimed that Vijay opposed her staying in the house should she approach the court and asserted that she has no other suitable residence to move to. Married since 1999 under the Special Marriage Act, the couple’s divorce filings cite alleged extramarital affairs by Vijay since 2021 and claims of mental cruelty as grounds for separation.

 

This development follows unsuccessful attempts at an amicable settlement. Reports have also suggested that Vijay offered a settlement amount of Rs 250 crore, which reportedly did not resolve matters. Rumors linking the alleged affair to actress Trisha have further intensified media scrutiny, potentially impacting Vijay’s public image as the chief of the TVK Party, especially with elections approaching.
