BBC Teases Romantic Adventure with ‘The Other Bennet Sister’ Trailer

BBC has released the first trailer for The Other Bennet Sister, a witty and heartwarming comedy series that reimagines Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice through the eyes of the often-overlooked Mary Bennet. Promising a fresh perspective on Regency-era England, the series blends romance, humor, and a journey of self-discovery.

 

The storyline follows Mary Bennet as she steps out of the shadows of her more prominent sisters to find love, independence, and her own voice. From her hometown of Meryton to the bustling streets of London and the scenic Lake District, Mary’s adventures reveal a spirited and relatable character whose story has long been overlooked. Fans can expect a mix of social satire, romantic entanglements, and comedic moments set against the backdrop of Regency society.

 

Ella Bruccoleri stars as Mary Bennet, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Ruth Jones, Richard E. Grant, Indira Varma, Richard Coyle, Laurie Davidson, and Dónal Finn. The series promises layered performances bringing depth, charm, and humor to Austen’s characters.

 

Created and written by Sarah Quintrell, the show is adapted from The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow.
