On the red carpet, Rekha paused in front of Dharmendra’s poster and stood in quiet reverence. With folded hands and a bowed head, she paid her respects, creating a powerful and emotional moment that instantly caught everyone’s attention. The silence spoke louder than words, reminding fans of the deep respect she holds for cinema’s legends.
Moments later, Rekha turned towards Agastya Nanda’s poster, her expression softening into a warm smile. She gently placed her hand on his photograph and blew him a flying kiss, a gesture widely seen as a blessing for the young actor’s journey ahead. The moment quickly went viral, with fans calling it “pure Bollywood emotion” and “a passing of legacy.”
Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, is set to make his first theatrical appearance with Ikkis. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, the film is a biographical war drama based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.
Ikkis is set against the backdrop of the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India–Pakistan War. The title of the film reflects the age—21—at which Arun Khetarpal attained martyrdom, making the story both powerful and heartbreaking. The narrative not only chronicles his bravery and sacrifice but also explores events that unfold when Brigadier ML Khetarpal visits Pakistan 30 years later.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Binny Padda, the film features an impressive cast including Jaideep Ahlawat, Simar Bhatia, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, Rahul Dev, and Dharmendra in his final onscreen role. Dharmendra’s presence adds immense emotional weight to the film, making Ikkis a tribute both to a war hero and a cinematic legend.
Originally scheduled for a Christmas 2025 release, Ikkis will now hit theatres on January 1, 2026. With its strong storyline, stellar performances, and deeply emotional moments both on and off screen, the film is already being counted among the most awaited releases of the year.
Rekha’s simple yet powerful gesture at the screening beautifully captured the spirit of Ikkis—honouring the past, celebrating the present, and blessing the future of Indian cinema.
