Abhishek Bachchan Praises Nephew Agastya Nanda for Portraying War Hero Arun Khetarpal in 'Ikkis'

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan took to social media to laud his nephew Agastya Nanda for his debut lead role in the upcoming biopic Ikkis. In a heartfelt tweet, Abhishek wrote, “Agastya, this is a huge honour and responsibility!! A huge hero of our nation. I am sure you have given him the respect, valour and dignity he truly deserves. You are an immensely sincere actor and your dedication to portraying Arun ji is so commendable. May God and the audiences bless you. #KeepFightingTheGoodFight”

The film Ikkis dramatizes the life and heroism of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra at the age of 21. During the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 India-Pakistan war, Khetarpal destroyed multiple enemy tanks before making the ultimate sacrifice, cementing his place in India’s military history.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis explores both Khetarpal’s bravery on the battlefield and his personal life, with veteran actor Dharmendra portraying Arun Khetarpal’s father. The film aims to honor the legacy of a national hero while highlighting the human side of a soldier who became a symbol of courage and patriotism.

Abhishek Bachchan’s public praise emphasizes the weight of responsibility carried by Agastya Nanda in portraying such a revered figure. His tweet recognizes both the dedication required to embody Arun Khetarpal authentically and the emotional gravity of honoring a fallen hero on his 1971 death anniversary.

Ikkis is slated for release on December 25, 2025, promising to be both a cinematic tribute to an Indian war hero and a showcase for Agastya Nanda’s promising acting debut. With family support and audience anticipation building, the film is poised to make a strong impact in both patriotic and cinematic circles.
