Waheeda Rehman Gets Emotional Remembering Sunil and Nargis Dutt at Yaadon Ki Geetmala

Legendary actress Waheeda Rehman was visibly moved as she attended the musical evening “Yaadon Ki Geetmala — Down Memory Lane”, a tribute hosted by Priya Dutt in memory of her parents, Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt. Sharing heartfelt memories, Waheeda Rehman spoke about her deep personal bond with the Dutt family, calling the evening an emotional journey that brought back decades of cherished moments from her illustrious career and personal life.

 

Expressing her feelings, Waheeda Rehman said, “I feel so good being here, and it brings back so many old memories. I did about five films with Mr. Dutt, and I had a very close friendship with Nargis ji.” She fondly recalled how their friendship went far beyond film sets, sharing that they spent hours chatting and laughing together whenever they traveled abroad or met during shoots. According to her, those beautiful memories came flooding back as she attended the event.

 

Speaking about her lifelong connection with the family, Waheeda Rehman emotionally added, “This isn't just the Dutt family of artists for me; they are my family.” She shared how she witnessed important moments in their lives, saying she saw Sanjay Dutt and Priya Dutt grow up right in front of her eyes. Her words reflected a bond built on decades of trust, warmth, and affection that transcended professional relationships.

 

With such a long-standing and heartfelt connection, Waheeda Rehman said attending the event was simply natural for her. The musical evening, held at the Nehru Centre Auditorium in Worli, Mumbai, celebrated the timeless songs and legacy of Sunil and Nargis Dutt, while also supporting a meaningful cause. The net proceeds from Yaadon Ki Geetmala were dedicated to the Nargis Dutt Foundation’s charitable initiatives for underprivileged cancer patients, making the evening both nostalgic and deeply purposeful.
