"Every Kid Started Playing Cricket with a Tennis Ball," Says Salman Khan on ISPL's Rise

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, owner of the Delhi Superheros ISPL team, made a high-profile appearance at the ISPL Season 3 Player Auction held in Mumbai. Speaking about the growth of the Indian Street Premier League, Salman highlighted its role in nurturing young talent. “I think it’s one of the best platforms for young talent, street to stadium, says it all. Every kid started playing cricket with a tennis ball, and that playing with tennis ball should come back into fashion,” he said, praising the league for connecting grassroots cricket with professional opportunities.

Salman further added his hopes for the league’s future, saying, “Long live ISPL, I hope it keeps on moving forward, keeps on growing, keeps on getting bigger and better.” When asked about his own team, the actor confidently stated, “I don’t have to tell anything, my team is already motivated,” reflecting his faith in his players’ drive and commitment.

Off the cricket field, Salman Khan is busy with his upcoming film Battle of Galwan, which is scheduled for a potential theatrical release in June 2026, though no official date has been announced yet. He will portray Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the real-life commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, in a story inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley border clash between Indian and Chinese troops—a brutal high-altitude confrontation fought with hand-to-hand combat using sticks and stones. Chitrangda Singh plays a key role in the film, which is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced under the Salman Khan Films banner.

At the ISPL auction, Salman’s enthusiasm for both cricket and cinema was evident, showcasing his continued influence in sports and entertainment. His remarks on the league’s grassroots impact resonated with fans, emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent from the streets to the stadium.

With Battle of Galwan and ISPL Season 3 on the horizon, 2025 and 2026 promise to be busy years for Salman Khan, further solidifying his presence as both a leading Bollywood star and a passionate advocate for sports in India.
