Paradise City Sales has unveiled the official promo trailer for A Sad and Beautiful World, a poignant Lebanese film set in Beirut that traces a love story spanning three decades. Written and directed by Cyril Aris, with co-writing by Bane Fakih, the film stars Mounia Akl and Hasan Akil, alongside Julia Kassar, Camille Salameh, Tino Karam, and Nadyn Chalhoub.

 

The story follows childhood sweethearts Nino (Hasan Akil) and Yasmina (Mounia Akl), whose bond is tested by time, separation, and the socio-political turmoil of modern-day Lebanon. Born seconds apart, a cosmic prediction by the enigmatic star-watcher Zachariya ties their destinies together. As children, Nino and Yasmina form a deep connection, only to be separated by circumstances beyond their control. Twenty-four years later, fate reunites them, igniting a passionate romance amid Beirut’s chaos and uncertainty.

 

Across three decades, the film explores themes of love, survival, and hope. Nino and Yasmina must navigate the delicate balance between building a family and pursuing happiness in a city plagued by political instability and social collapse. Their daughter Amal symbolizes new beginnings, yet her future becomes a source of tension as Beirut’s realities clash with the family’s aspirations, all against a surreal and visually striking backdrop.
