Set in 18th-century Vienna, the story follows 25-year-old Mozart (Will Sharpe), no longer a child prodigy but a fiercely creative musical genius craving freedom. His life collides with Constanze Weber (Gabrielle Creevy), the loyal young woman who will become his wife, and Antonio Salieri (Paul Bettany), the devout court composer whose envy drives a legendary rivalry. The cast also features Rory Kinnear as Emperor Joseph, along with Lucy Cohu, Jonathan Aris, Ényì Okoronkwo, and Jessica Alexander, bringing Vienna’s opulent court to life.
The five-part series, created and written by Joe Barton and co-created by Julian Farino, is directed by Farino and Alice Seabright. Produced by Sky Studios, the project is executive produced by Paul Gilbert, Megan Spanjian, Michael Jackson, Will Sharpe, Julian Farino, and Stephen Wright. The series promises a dramatic retelling of Mozart’s meteoric rise, his creative brilliance, and the legendary rivalry with Salieri, blending historical intrigue with the larger-than-life persona of the 18th-century music icon.
The trailer gives viewers a glimpse of Vienna’s grand courts, Mozart’s fiery performances, and the tension-filled confrontations with Salieri, emphasizing both the genius and human vulnerabilities of the musical legend. Sky TV plans to stream Amadeus starting December 21st, 2025, with no US release date announced yet.
