Advertising Legend Piyush Pandey Laid to Rest in Mumbai, Industry Icons Pay Their Last Respects

Mumbai bid farewell to one of its most creative minds as the advertising fraternity and film industry gathered to pay their last respects to Piyush Pandey, the legendary adman who changed the language of Indian advertising. Emotional scenes unfolded at his funeral, attended by prominent personalities including Suresh Oberoi, Tiku Talsania, Supriya Pathak, Anang Desai, Pankaj Kapur, Dilip Tahil, and Prahlad Kakkar, among many others.

Pandey, who passed away on 23 October 2025 at the age of 70, leaves behind a legacy that transcends jingles and taglines. As the Chief Creative Officer Worldwide and Executive Chairman India of Ogilvy, he gave Indian advertising its own voice — rooted in culture, humor, and humanity. From the iconic “Har ghar kuch kehta hai” to “Fevikwik – Chutki Mein Chipkaye”, his campaigns were not just ads, but slices of Indian life.

Honored with the Padma Shri in 2016 and the LIA Legend Award in 2024, Pandey was celebrated for bringing emotion, simplicity, and storytelling to an industry once dominated by western sensibilities. Colleagues remember him as a mentor who believed that great advertising wasn’t about selling products — it was about connecting people.

As friends, peers, and admirers gathered to say their goodbyes, there was one unspoken sentiment that lingered — Piyush Pandey didn’t just build brands, he built memories. His words will continue to echo in every line that makes us smile, think, and feel a little more Indian.
