Tom Felton Battles a Dystopian Future in Timo Vuorensola's Sci-Fi Thriller 'Altered'

Well Go USA has unveiled the official trailer for Altered, a dystopian sci-fi thriller from Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, known for his cult hits Iron Sky and action-packed thrillers like 97 Minutes. Set to release on November 21, 2025, the film promises a visually striking, if somewhat chaotic, glimpse into an alternate present where genetically enhanced humans dominate society.

In this world, ordinary people — called “Specials” — are marginalized and forced underground. The story follows outcasts Leon (played by Tom Felton) and Chloe (Elizaveta Bugulova), who risk everything to challenge corrupt politicians exploiting genetic disparity. With the tagline, “Fight the system. Change the world,” the film explores themes of social injustice, rebellion, and the high cost of revolution.

Filmed largely in Kazakhstan, the futuristic cityscapes are heavily enhanced with VFX, transforming Astana into a visually stunning dystopian metropolis. The supporting cast includes Richard Brake, Aggy K. Adams, and Igor Zhizhikin, rounding out a team of characters determined to restore balance in a fractured society.

Produced by Andreas Klein, Marko Moellers, Doris Pfardrescher, and Juris Razgulajevs, Altered blends Vuorensola’s signature mix of over-the-top action and social commentary, continuing his tradition of delivering bold, visually ambitious cinema.

Whether it becomes a cult favorite like Iron Sky or leaves audiences scratching their heads, Altered offers an intriguing, high-stakes ride for fans of dystopian sci-fi. It will debut in select U.S. theaters and on VOD on November 21, 2025.
