Universal Pictures has dropped the first official trailer for Reminders of Him, and it’s already tugging on the heartstrings of Colleen Hoover fans everywhere. Adapted from Hoover’s bestselling novel of the same name, this all-female–helmed project transforms one of the author’s most emotional stories into a sweeping cinematic experience.

 

Maika Monroe takes on the role of Kenna, a woman haunted by the one terrible mistake that defined her life. After serving time in prison for a tragic accident, she returns to her Wyoming hometown determined to make things right—and to reconnect with her daughter, Diem, whom she has never met. But forgiveness, it turns out, is far harder to earn than freedom. Everyone in town sees her as the villain of the story—everyone except Ledger, a local bar owner with a quiet connection to her past.

 

Ledger, played by rising star Tyriq Withers, offers Kenna the first glimmer of compassion she’s felt in years.
