Salman Khan Pays His Respects at Pankaj Dheer's Funeral

The Indian entertainment industry bid a sorrowful farewell to veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, who passed away at the age of 68. His funeral was held on Wednesday at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai’s Santacruz. The atmosphere was heavy with grief as family, friends, and colleagues came together to honor a man whose contribution to Indian television and cinema left a deep and lasting impression.

Among the mourners was Salman Khan, who quietly arrived to pay his final respects. His presence spoke volumes. Though he remained low-key, Salman’s attendance was a powerful gesture, reflecting the deep regard he held for Pankaj Dheer. In a world where schedules rarely pause, his decision to be there in person was a heartfelt tribute to a fellow artist and a sign of solidarity in grief.

The funeral also saw several of Pankaj Dheer’s co-stars and industry colleagues come together, many of whom had worked with him during the golden days of television. Surendra Pal, Firoz Khan, and Deep Dhillon — his fellow actors from Mahabharat — stood beside others like Mukesh Rishi, Jaya Bhattacharya, Kushal Tandon, and Shahbaz Khan, sharing memories and offering support to the grieving family.

Pankaj Dheer rose to fame as Karna in the 1988 epic Mahabharat, a role that etched his name into the hearts of millions. Over the years, he continued to work quietly, lending depth to every role he took on — whether in Chandrakanta, The Great Maratha, or films like Sadak, Baadshah, and Soldier. His work wasn’t loud, but it was always meaningful — and that’s what people remembered as they said goodbye.

He is survived by his wife Anita Dheer, son Nikitin Dheer, and daughter-in-law Kratika Sengar. As his body was laid to rest, there was a deep sense of loss — not just for a beloved actor, but for a gentle soul who gave his life to storytelling. In moments like these, when stars like Salman Khan stand silently among the mourners, it reminds us that behind all the fame are people — connected by respect, loss, and shared journeys.
