Malaika Arora on Fashion, Founders & Finding Balance: "I'm a Work in Progress"

At the press conference for Pitch to Get Rich — India’s most exciting new fashion entrepreneurship reality series — Malaika Arora took the mic not just as a style icon, but as a woman deeply immersed in the world of startups, mentorship, and meaningful change. Held at Salcette, Bandra, the event marked the countdown to the show’s October 20 premiere on JioHotstar, where fashion meets funding with a 40 crore investment pool on the line.

Speaking with her signature poise, Malaika shared her enthusiasm for being part of a venture that’s reshaping the fashion climate: “It’s the first of its kind… and the numbers we’re seeing are unprecedented. I’m proud to be part of something that’s not just changing the game in India but making waves globally.”

But it wasn’t just the glam — Malaika dug deep into what it means to juggle her entertainment career with her growing presence in entrepreneurship. “Balancing between mentorship and entrepreneurship has been a learning experience. I’m a work in progress,” she said candidly, revealing that her involvement in the show has opened her eyes to broader opportunities and new ways to better herself — both professionally and personally.

When asked about the role of women in the startup space, she was quick to reframe the conversation: “Let’s not put a gender to the question,” she said. “Yes, I run a startup — entirely by women, for women, and led by women — and I’m proud of that. But the point is to empower people from all walks of life, regardless of gender.”

Malaika is joined on the Pitch to Get Rich panel by a powerhouse jury — Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, and Manish Malhotra — along with a formidable lineup of investors including Naveen Jindal, Ravi Jaipuria, Darpan Sanghvi, and more. Together, they’re set to guide, challenge, and invest in India’s next big fashion disruptors.

In a show that blends Bollywood flair with boardroom grit, Malaika Arora is proof that you can strut the runway, build the runway, and still be learning to fly.
