Actor-turned-director Varalaxmi Sarathkumar has officially announced her directorial debut with a thrilling new project titled Saraswathi. Sharing the news on her social media, Varalaxmi expressed her excitement: “I’m so excited to be starting my journey as a director. It's a greater perk to be making with my sister Pooja. The film, produced under the banner Dosa Diaries Production No-1, is a big milestone in her career and sees her establish herself as a filmmaker of vision, ambition, and support from her family.

 

Inspired by the 1966 mythological classic Saraswathi Sabatham, Varalaxmi’s Saraswathi promises a modern reimagining—this time, not in the realm of gods, but grounded in a new-age thriller format. This isn’t just a vanity project; it’s a calculated, creative leap. With the legendary Prakash Raj and the ever-versatile Priyamani headlining the cast, and music by Thaman S—known for his chartbusters—the project signals a high-stakes cinematic experience crafted with care and star power.

 

Backing her debut is a powerhouse technical crew including editor Venkatesh, cinematographer Edwin Sakay, and art direction by Sudheer, making Saraswathi a rich collaboration of seasoned talent and fresh creative energy.
