Thamma Trailer Unleashed: Maddock's Bloody Love Story Promises a Dark Diwali Delight

Maddock Films has officially dropped the much-anticipated trailer for Thamma, the latest installment in its expanding Horror Comedy Universe. Slated for a worldwide theatrical release on October 21st, just in time for Diwali, the film brings a fresh twist to the genre with what the makers describe as a “bloody love story.” Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thamma appears to blend folklore, horror, romance, and dark comedy into a visually intense cinematic experience.

Headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, the film introduces audiences to a forgotten legend buried in Indian mythology. Khurrana plays Alok, while Mandanna takes on the mysterious role of Tadaka, a character seemingly rooted in ancient lore. The supporting cast includes powerhouse performers like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik, Rachit Singh, and Geeta Agarwal. Nawazuddin, in particular, stands out in the trailer as a haunting antagonist named Yakshasan, hinting at a complex supernatural narrative.

The trailer suggests Thamma is more than just another horror-comedy. It teases a romance soaked in blood and betrayal, underscored by a folklore-inspired mystery. The tone leans darker than Maddock’s previous films like Stree, Roohi, or Bhediya, signaling a shift toward more serious storytelling while maintaining a satirical edge. The inclusion of cameos, including a brief appearance by Varun Dhawan as Bhediya, confirms the film’s integration into the larger Maddock universe.

Music for the film is composed by the hit duo Sachin–Jigar, promising a mix of eerie and energetic tracks. Choreographed special numbers featuring Nora Fatehi and Malaika Arora are expected to add glamour to the otherwise grim narrative. Writers Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara have reportedly drawn heavily from Indian mythology, giving Thamma an indigenous depth that separates it from typical genre fare.

As the countdown to Diwali begins, Thamma looks set to be the next big genre-defining blockbuster. Whether it continues Maddock’s winning streak at the box office remains to be seen, but early reactions to the trailer suggest the film has struck a chord. With its ambitious blend of folklore, horror, romance, and universe-building, Thamma might just be the most daring addition to Indian genre cinema in years.
