In one of the more unexpected casting choices of the year, Decibel: Past Has A New Voice brings together actor Sunny Singh and indie singer-turned-actress Dot for a genre-bending investigative thriller. Directed and produced by Vineet Joshi—who previously backed the blockbuster M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story—Decibel marks his directorial debut and aims to carve out a new auditory-driven niche in Indian cinema.

 

Billed as a suspenseful dive into a mystery where sound plays a pivotal role, the film explores how the past can resurface in the most unsettling of ways. With its tagline, “Past Has A New Voice,” the movie teases a plot that’s as psychological as it is sonic. While the premise hints at influences from high-stakes sound-based thrillers like the 2022 South Korean film Decibel, this Indian iteration promises a fresh emotional and cultural spin.
