Keanu Reeves Is a Budget Guardian Angel in Hilarious New Trailer for Aziz Ansari's 'Good Fortune'

Lionsgate just dropped a brand-new trailer for Good Fortune, the upcoming comedy from writer-director Aziz Ansari, and it’s a wildly original, offbeat take on fate, wealth, and the chaos of switching lives — all with a supernatural twist. Starring Keanu Reeves as a low-tier guardian angel (yes, you read that right), the film hits theatres on October 17, 2025, and the latest trailer is already serving heavenly laughs and absurd charm.

Reeves plays Gabriel, a self-described “budget guardian angel” who watches over struggling odd-jobber (played by Aziz Ansari) working for a ridiculously rich venture capitalist named Jeff (a perfectly cast Seth Rogen). After the down-on-his-luck man falls asleep in a Denny’s booth and loses his car, Gabriel decides it’s time to step in — It’s a Wonderful Life style — to teach him that money isn’t the answer.

The twist? Gabriel swaps his life with Jeff’s, hoping to prove that wealth won’t fix everything. But when the struggling man thrives in Jeff’s rich life, and Gabriel completely fails as a lesson-giver, he loses his angel wings and is banished to Earth. Now mortal, Gabriel has to live among the humans — specifically, as a roommate to the displaced Jeff. Cue identity crises, celestial bureaucracy, and a fast-crumbling moral lesson as Gabriel watches his well-intentioned work unravel.

The ensemble cast is stacked, with Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, and Stephen McKinley Henderson rounding out the chaos. With Ansari's signature mix of sharp wit and awkward sincerity, Good Fortune is shaping up to be a satirical, heartwarming, and totally unhinged look at class, cosmic purpose, and what it really means to be “fortunate.”

With Reeves flexing his comedy muscles, Rogen in peak ridiculousness mode, and Ansari back behind (and in front of) the camera, this fall release could be the feel-good comedy surprise of the year — complete with angels, body swaps, and existential Denny’s moments.
