CarryMinati, Diana Penty, Jannat Zubair And More Attend Starry Screening of 'Homebound' in Mumbai

The city of dreams lit up last night as Mumbai played host to the glittering special screening of Neeraj Ghaywan’s much-anticipated drama Homebound. The red carpet was graced by an eclectic mix of stars and creators, from Diana Penty and Jannat Zubair Rahmani, to internet sensations Ajey Nagar aka CarryMinati and comedian Samay Raina, all turning up in support of a film that’s already making global waves.

Homebound, written and directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, is based on a powerful 2020 article by Basharat Peer published in The New York Times. The film stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, and tells the story of two childhood friends from a rural village in North India, chasing their dream of becoming police officers — a goal that promises dignity, but at a cost. Their journey unfolds into an emotionally charged commentary on class, ambition, and friendship under fire.

The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section back in May and was selected as India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards — a major milestone that has everyone talking.

Last night’s screening saw not just Bollywood A-listers but also content creators, digital stars, and emerging voices from the entertainment world walk the carpet — a perfect reflection of Homebound’s cross-generational, emotionally resonant appeal. From Diana’s minimalist glam to CarryMinati’s signature laid-back style, the evening was as much about fashion as it was about film.

Homebound hits theatres on September 26, 2025, and with its powerful story, stirring performances, and Oscar buzz already in the air, it's safe to say that this isn't just a movie — it's a moment.
