Suhana Khan's Alibaug Land Deal Under Legal Scrutiny Amid Alleged Violations

Bollywood star kid Suhana Khan, daughter of superstar Shah Rukh Khan, finds herself at the center of a growing legal storm surrounding her ₹12.91 crore land purchase in Alibaug’s Thal village. The controversy involves a 1.5-acre plot registered in her name in June 2023, which reportedly falls under a restricted “no-sale” clause originally tied to government-allotted agricultural land. The deal, which included structures already built on the property, is now being probed for potential rule violations and misuse of authority.

According to reports, the land was initially allotted to the Khote family in 1968 strictly for cultivation, and the sale or transfer without prior approval from the District Collector was prohibited. However, Suhana reportedly purchased the land from the heirs — Anjali, Rekha, and Priya Khote — via a registered sale agreement. Investigators allege that key officials may have facilitated the sale by submitting misleading inspection reports that falsely stated there were no existing structures on the land.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is now examining potential collusion between private parties and public officials, highlighting the revenue loss to the state and the lack of necessary permissions. If violations are confirmed, the transaction could be declared invalid, and ownership may revert to the government. The documents also list Suhana Khan as a "farmer," a designation required to purchase agricultural land — raising further eyebrows over the legitimacy of the classification.

Neither Suhana Khan nor her representatives have commented publicly on the matter. The Alibaug Tehsildar has been directed to submit a fair and comprehensive report. Meanwhile, public discourse has picked up pace around celebrity privileges, land ownership laws, and the importance of transparency in high-value transactions involving restricted properties.

As the legal process unfolds, this case could have wider implications on how land ownership is enforced in Maharashtra and beyond. It also puts a spotlight on the responsibilities of high-profile individuals when navigating bureaucratic and legal frameworks, especially in sectors with strict governance like agricultural land.
