Directed by the legendary Sathyan Anthikad, Hridayapoorvam marks the 10th collaboration between Anthikad and Mohanlal — a creative duo that has shaped the emotional and realistic narrative arc of Malayalam cinema since the 1980s. This time, they’re telling the deeply moving story of Sandeep, a heart-transplant survivor who forms an unexpected emotional bond with the family of his organ donor.
Inspired by real-life cases where organ recipients have reported sensing their donor’s emotions and memories, Hridayapoorvam dares to explore a subject rarely seen on Indian screens. The screenplay by Sonu T. P., based on a story by Anthikad’s son Akhil Sathyan, adds a personal layer to a narrative already rich in humanity and emotion.
Produced by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvad Cinemas, the film features an ensemble cast including Malavika Mohanan, Sangeeth Prathap, Sangita Madhavan Nair, Siddique, Lalu Alex, Baburaj, and S. P. Charan, promising a mix of generations and genres. With Justin Prabhakaran handling the music, Anu Moothedath on cinematography, and K. Rajagopal in the editing suite, the technical team behind the film is as accomplished as its cast.
