Actor Randeep Hooda has once again proven that his compassion goes beyond the screen. Taking to social media, Hooda addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the Supreme Court's recent ruling on the removal of stray dogs from Delhi-NCR. He welcomed Chief Justice of India’s decision to review the matter, calling for a more humane and sustainable solution.
“So glad to hear that the Honourable CJI has agreed to look into the ruling about stray dogs in NCR,” Hooda wrote. “Passing a law and implementing it should be firstly humane, and secondly, the infrastructure and sensitivity need to be taken care of.” He acknowledged both sides of the debate — the humanitarian responsibility towards animals and the very real danger posed by aggressive strays in some areas. “I love animals, but will I be able to justify it to a family that has lost a loved one to rabies or dealt with serious injuries? No,” he added.
Instead of mass impounding, Hooda advocated for large-scale, cyclic neutering and responsible adoption. He emphasized that such long-term, science-backed efforts are the only feasible way to reduce stray populations. His stance echoes WHO recommendations that state sterilization can reduce stray dog populations by up to 70% over five years. He also urged citizens to adopt strays and take full responsibility for them — a cause he personally champions, as seen in a string of pictures he shared featuring himself with adopted stray dogs.
Known for his intense roles and physical transformations, Randeep Hooda continues to show depth and dedication off-screen as well — this time in support of animal welfare. His voice adds weight to a growing national conversation around ethics, safety, and civic responsibility in dealing with the stray dog population.
On the work front, Hooda will next be seen in Matchbox, an upcoming American action-adventure comedy directed by Sam Hargrave. Inspired by the iconic toy brand, the film features a star-studded cast including John Cena, Jessica Biel, Danai Gurira, and Teyonah Parris, with Randeep Hooda adding an Indian touch to this global ensemble. Matchbox is slated for release in fall 2026.
