Lauren Gottlieb Calls Katrina Kaif “Iconic”, Says Chikni Chameli Is Her All-Time Favorite Dance Number

Lauren Gottlieb, the American-Indian dancer and actress known for her explosive moves and powerful stage presence, recently opened up about her admiration for Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif. In a candid interaction with the media, Lauren revealed that Kaif’s iconic song Chikni Chameli from Agneepath remains her all-time favorite dance number. “I love Chikni Chameli. I think she is great, I think Katrina Kaif is iconic. What she has done has paved a way for so many girls, her songs are classic. Chikni Chameli is a banger,” Lauren shared enthusiastically.

 

Gottlieb, who shot to fame as a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance and made waves in India with her lead role in ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, has often spoken about her deep connection with Indian culture. Living in Mumbai, she has embraced several local traditions and habits. One of her most beloved aspects of Indian life? The food. “My favorite Indian food is Bhindi Masala,” she said with a smile, adding that she’s grown quite fond of regional flavors.

 

Not just food, Lauren also expressed her love for traditional Maharashtrian dance forms, particularly Lavani. “I love Lavani, it’s my favorite dance style,” she said, adding that the high-energy rhythm and expressive storytelling of the form deeply resonate with her. Her admiration for Indian classical and folk styles reflects in her performances, often blending western techniques with desi flair.

 

Apart from her film and dance projects, Lauren has built a loyal fanbase in India. After finishing as runner-up in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 with choreographer Punit Pathak, she went on to judge the show’s eighth season. Most recently, she was seen grooving in the music video of Harrdy Sandhu’s hit track She Dance Like, once again proving her unmatched charisma on screen.
