Exploring New Facets of My Performance Says Shruti Haasan Gets Real About Her Role in Coolie

For Shruti Haasan, Coolie isn’t just another film—it’s a defining moment in her career. At the grand pre-release press conference in Mumbai, Shruti opened up about diving deep into the character of Preeti, a role that challenged her and left a lasting impression. “Sharing screen space with such legends and being guided by Lokesh was an incredible learning experience,” she said. “It pushed me to explore new facets of my performance.”

 

In a film packed with explosive action and legendary star power, Shruti’s character Preeti is the emotional heartbeat—steady, grounded, and quietly powerful. “Preeti adds an emotional layer to the otherwise high-energy, action-packed narrative,” Shruti explained. “She balances the intensity with moments of grounded inspiration.”

 

But don’t mistake Preeti for a reflection of Shruti herself. “I don’t think Preeti is like me at all,” she admitted with a smile. “But I did connect with certain aspects of her. I believe many women will relate to those parts, and that’s what I really liked about the character. Preeti is extremely responsible, extremely focused, and quite inspiring.” Shruti’s goal is to make sure Preeti isn’t just a part of the plot—but someone audiences remember long after the credits roll.

 

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, Coolie stars Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and of course, Shruti Haasan.
