Lara Dutta Pens a Moving Tribute to Deanne Panday After Ahaan's Debut in Saiyaara

While Saiyaara marks the grand arrival of a new star — Ahaan Panday — it’s a different kind of celebration for actress and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta Bhupathi, who took to social media to honor the woman behind the rising star: her close friend of 25 years, Deanne Panday.

In a beautifully worded post, Lara shared, “This post is for my friend @deannepanday… I went to watch her son Ahaan’s movie yesterday, #Saiyaara… Have known Ahaan since he was a toddler, and it’s been a pleasure to watch him grow into the thoughtful, well-brought-up, charming boy he is… Ahaan was going to be a star, there was no doubt… but this is for his Mum…”

What followed was a touching tribute that reads like a love letter to a friendship rooted in decades of unwavering support, loyalty, and shared history. Lara recalled moving to Mumbai as a teenager, where Deanne was one of the first to take her under her wing — even before the tiaras and movie sets. “She was there when I won Miss India and Miss Universe, and kept me grounded and focused on my fitness and mental well-being,” she wrote.

From career highs to heartbreaks, from weddings to loss, Lara reveals that Deanne has been her quiet anchor through it all. “She shows up EVERY time for the people she loves… quietly slipping in and taking care of all that needs to be done, and has never asked for anything in return.”

Of course, Deanne’s role as a mother took center stage in Lara’s tribute. “She loves her kids Alanna and Ahaan more than anything in the world (well maybe now second to River, her grandson), and has been a supermom and grandma to make all their dreams come true!!” Lara closed the post with a sentiment that melted hearts: “I hope all the many achievements both your wonderful kids will surely accomplish will be a glowing testimony to your good karma and the incredible person you are!”

In a world of loud celebrations, Lara’s note was a quiet, powerful reminder that behind every breakout star, there’s often a silent warrior — and in Ahaan Panday’s case, her name is Deanne Panday.
