Randeep Hooda Roars on International Tiger Day: "Saving the Tiger is Saving Ourselves"

On International Tiger Day 2025, actor, conservationist, and all-around wilderness warrior Randeep Hooda dropped a series of jaw-droppingly beautiful tiger photographs on his social media—proving once again that his passion for wildlife is far more than a photo op.

Captioned with heartfelt urgency and grounded facts, Hooda wrote, “#InternationalTigerDay is not just about the tiger. The presence of a Tiger on any land basically means that millions of species of flora and fauna are thriving there… Let’s save ourselves.”

The post celebrates India’s global leadership in tiger conservation, highlighting the country’s recent milestone of increasing its tiger population to 3,682 by 2022—a 24% jump from 2018, according to the National Tiger Conservation Authority. But Hooda doesn’t let the celebration overshadow the reality: shrinking tiger habitats due to land diversion remain a critical threat.

"Where will these increased number of tigers go?" he asks—an unsettling but necessary question. With each tiger needing roughly 10,000 hectares of forest to survive sustainably (as per World Wildlife Fund data), urban expansion and deforestation are pushing these apex predators closer to the brink again, despite population gains.

Hooda, known for his earthy roles and unfiltered honesty, isn't new to wildlife advocacy. Whether he's volunteering with conservation programs or capturing majestic shots of tigers in their natural habitat, his activism is rooted in personal experience. “There is no view as majestic and as primal as a Tiger in nature,” he says—and if you’ve seen his photos, you’ll agree.

He also subtly tags entities like @moefcc, @ntcgogreen, @NikonIndia, and renowned wildlife photographer @saroshlodhi, reminding us that tiger conservation is a multi-agency, multi-human effort. It’s a call to collective action, not just Instagram awareness.

So on this International Tiger Day, as the world flashes tiger emojis and hashtags, Randeep Hooda brings the roar back to reality—because saving the tiger isn't just about them. It's about all of us.
