Amazon MGM Studios Unveils Trailer for Gritty WWII Tank Drama Der Tiger

Amazon MGM Studios has officially released the first trailer for Der Tiger, a gritty new World War II drama set on the brutal Eastern Front. Directed by German filmmaker Dennis Gansel (Before the Fall, The Wave), the film follows a crew of five German soldiers operating a Tiger tank on a dangerous mission that spirals into a psychological and moral descent. The film is slated for a theatrical release on September 18th, 2025, before streaming on Prime Video.

 

Starring David Schütter, Laurence Rupp, Leonard Kunz, Sebastian Urzendowsky, and Yoran Leicher, Der Tiger is set in Autumn 1943, a time when the war in the East was reaching unprecedented levels of violence and chaos. What starts as a routine operation quickly unravels as the crew faces drug addiction, existential dread, and the erosion of their very humanity. The tank becomes both their weapon and prison as the line between man and machine—and between right and wrong—dissolves in the fog of war.

 

The screenplay is co-written by Dennis Gansel and Colin Teevan, and promises a philosophical and harrowing take on the war genre, moving beyond traditional battlefield heroics to explore deeper questions of morality, identity, and psychological survival.
