Netflix Drops Gripping Trailer for Political Thriller Hostage

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming political thriller miniseries Hostage, promising high-stakes drama, international intrigue, and a razor-sharp exploration of power and vulnerability. Set for release on August 21, 2025, the series stars Suranne Jones, Julie Delpy, Ashley Thomas, Corey Mylchreest, Lucian Msamati, and Martin McCann.

 

Created and written by Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies), Hostage follows a tense and complex narrative where diplomacy gives way to danger. During a high-profile state visit, the French President's trip to the UK is upended when the British Prime Minister’s husband is kidnapped and the visiting French leader is blackmailed. As both nations reel from the unfolding crisis, the two political figures—played by Jones and Delpy—must confront not only the immediate threat but also each other.

 

Caught in a web of personal stakes and public responsibility, the leaders must navigate a treacherous path of negotiation, deception, and shifting alliances. Can two of the world’s most powerful figures set aside rivalry to dismantle a conspiracy that could shatter both their governments?
