Anupam Kher Says Tanvi The Great is “Not Just About Autism, But About Dreams”

Veteran actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher held a special screening of his directorial film Tanvi The Great in Mumbai for specially-abled children, marking a touching moment in the film’s journey. The heartfelt story, which centers around a young woman on the autism spectrum with aspirations to join the Indian Army, continues to resonate deeply with audiences worldwide.

 

During the event, Kher expressed his gratitude and reflected on the larger message of the film. In a candid byte to the media, he said: “After the film being premiered across the world and for dignitaries, the film is now reaching the kids—that is just great. Tanvi The Great is a movie about autism, but it is not just about autism. Like I said in the movie, how can someone stop someone from having a dream? And I am thankful to everyone, especially media, for taking the movie forward.”

 

Tanvi The Great, directed by Anupam Kher and produced under his home banner Anupam Kher Studio in collaboration with NFDC, is an emotional tribute to ambition, resilience, and inclusion. The film stars Shubhangi Dutt as Tanvi Raina, a 21-year-old woman on the autism spectrum who lives with her mother Vidya (Pallavi Joshi) and grandfather Colonel Pratap Raina (Anupam Kher). Inspired by her late father, Captain Samar Raina, Tanvi sets out to fulfill his dream—joining the Indian Army and saluting the national flag at Siachen Glacier.

 

The ensemble cast features an impressive lineup including Iain Glen, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Karan Tacker, Nassar, Joanna Ashka, and others.

 

As Tanvi The Great continues its journey, its message of breaking barriers, embracing inclusion, and believing in one’s dreams is being celebrated by audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
