Prime Video Unveils Teaser for The Girlfriend

Prime Video has released the teaser trailer for The Girlfriend, a gripping six-part family drama adapted from the bestselling novel of the same name. Set to premiere on September 10, 2025, the series explores themes of trust, obsession, and the blurred lines between protection and control. With Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke in lead roles, the limited series promises a suspenseful and emotionally charged viewing experience.

 

The Girlfriend follows Laura (Robin Wright), a successful career woman and devoted mother whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel when her adult son, Daniel (Laurie Davidson), introduces her to his mysterious new girlfriend, Cherry (Olivia Cooke). At first glance, Cherry seems charming, but Laura quickly grows suspicious of her motives. As tension builds between the two women, the narrative raises the question: is Cherry truly dangerous, or is Laura’s growing paranoia distorting reality?

 

The ensemble cast includes Waleed Zuaiter, Tanya Moodie, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Karen Henthorn, Anna Chancellor, Leo Suter, and Francesca Corney, rounding out the complex social web in which the central conflict unfolds. Created and written by Naomi Sheldon and Gabbie Asher, with additional contributions from a diverse writing team, the series is helmed by directors Andrea Harkin and Robin Wright herself, adding a nuanced perspective to the show’s psychological depth.
