We Will Leave No Stone Unturned says Namit Malhotra on Bringing Ramayana to Life

The long-awaited first look of Ramayana, one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious cinematic undertakings, was finally unveiled today, July 3, with immense fanfare across the globe. Audiences were treated to a powerful first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as the mighty Ravana, signaling the beginning of a monumental retelling of the timeless epic that has shaped Indian culture for millennia.

The teaser launch was celebrated in grand style with simultaneous screenings across nine major Indian cities and a massive showcase at New York’s Times Square, underlining the global scale and vision of the project

At the heart of this historic launch was Namit Malhotra, the film’s producer, who spoke with deep emotion and pride about the journey of bringing Ramayana to life. “A moment of disbelief—ab tak maana nahi jaa raha ki we are seeing and sharing it with all of you,” Malhotra said, visibly moved. “It has been a very, very long dream that we have been collaborating to put our heart, soul, life into—so that we can do justice to this epic.”

He added,“My only aspiration is, with pride, how do we take our greatest culture, our greatest part of our history, and share it with the world. I want all of us Indians to stand proud—not just celebrating it for ourselves but also sharing it at the highest level globally. Thank you all. We are working really hard, and we will leave no stone unturned to make sure we deliver the very best that anyone in the world can attempt.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features a stellar ensemble cast drawn from the top ranks of Indian cinema. Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Ram, bringing a calm yet commanding presence to the epic hero. Yash portrays the formidable Ravana, promising a powerful and layered performance. Sai Pallavi steps into the role of Sita, adding grace and emotional depth to the narrative. Sunny Deol brings strength and intensity as Hanuman, while Ravie Dubey plays the loyal and courageous Lakshman, rounding out a cast that aims to do justice to the timeless epic.

In a groundbreaking move, the film brings together two musical legends—Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman—for its score, a collaboration that unites East and West in sonic storytelling.

The action sequences will be choreographed by international stunt maestros Terry Notary (Avatar, Avengers) and Guy Norris (Mad Max: Fury Road), ensuring battle scenes that are as emotionally resonant as they are visually spectacular.

Ramayana is produced by Namit Malhotra and co-produced by Yash, under the banners of Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations. The film also partners with DNEG, the eight-time Oscar-winning visual effects studio known for raising the bar in cinematic VFX worldwide.

Ramayana is planned as a two-part saga, with Part One scheduled for a global release during Diwali 2026, followed by Part Two in Diwali 2027. With its unmatched scale, visionary storytelling, and emotional depth, Ramayana is not just a film—it is poised to become a cultural phenomenon, seamlessly bridging ancient mythology with modern cinema for audiences around the world.
