Anupam Kher Unveils Emotional and Uplifting Trailer for Tanvi The Great

Veteran actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher has unveiled the trailer of his much-anticipated directorial venture Tanvi The Great, set to release in cinemas worldwide on July 18, 2025. The film introduces debutant Shubhangi Dutt in the titular role of Tanvi Raina—a young woman with autism who dares to dream the impossible: joining the Indian Army to fulfill her martyred father’s final wish. In a stirring message, Kher describes it as “a story of hope and strength”—and the trailer lives up to every word.

 

Set against the backdrop of perseverance and patriotism, Tanvi The Great follows Tanvi’s courageous journey as she arrives at Lansdowne Cantonment, hoping to wear the Army uniform in honor of her father, Captain Samar Pratap Raina, who lost his life in service. While regulations disqualify individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from formal enlistment, Tanvi is allowed to train alongside aspiring soldiers. Facing skepticism, physical hurdles, and emotional resistance from her own family—particularly her grandfather, played by Kher—Tanvi gradually wins hearts with her unwavering determination and innocence.

 

The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, Iain Glen, and Kher himself. It is elevated by a stirring score from Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning composer M.M. Keeravani, known for his work on RRR and Baahubali. Produced by Anupam Kher Studio in collaboration with NFDC, the film’s global distribution is managed by Excel Entertainment and AA Films led by Anil Thadani.
