‘The Batman: Part II’ Script Completed, Set for October 2027 Release

Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin have officially completed the script for The Batman: Part II, marking a major milestone more than three years after the first film’s successful theatrical run. The news was subtly confirmed by the duo through a collaborative Instagram post featuring a blurred black-and-white image of the script. The photo, bearing the outline of a bat and a faint title reading “The Batman: Part II”, quickly stirred excitement among fans.

 

Reeves, who directed the 2022 film, captioned the post: “Partners in Crime (Fighters),” a clever nod to the potential inclusion of Robin — a character notably absent from the first installment. The phrase hints at new character dynamics and possibly a deeper dive into the Batman mythos, something fans have eagerly speculated about since the franchise reboot. Co-writer Tomlin was also tagged, suggesting a close collaboration on what’s expected to be a darker, more intense chapter.

 

The sequel was originally announced in April 2022, following the critical and commercial success of The Batman, which starred Robert Pattinson in a grittier, noir-inspired version of the Caped Crusader. The first film also featured standout performances from Colin Farrell (Penguin), Zoë Kravitz (Catwoman), Paul Dano (The Riddler), and Jeffrey Wright (Lt. Gordon), among others. Though plot details remain under wraps, the tone of the teaser image suggests Reeves will continue exploring Gotham’s psychological and moral decay.

 

Warner Bros. has set the release date for The Batman: Part II as October 1, 2027. Given that the first film grossed over $772 million worldwide, anticipation is high for what could be one of the most significant superhero films of the decade. Whether the sequel will finally introduce Robin or further expand Gotham’s rogues' gallery remains to be seen — but with the script now finished, fans can be certain that Batman’s next chapter is well underway.
