Apple TV Unveils Teaser for The Lost Bus, a Harrowing Wildfire Rescue Drama by Paul Greengrass

Apple TV has dropped the first heart-pounding teaser for The Lost Bus, the latest feature from acclaimed director Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips), and it’s already shaping up to be one of the most powerful films of 2025. Starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, the movie is an emotional, action-driven survival story based on the real-life horrors of California’s Camp Fire, one of the deadliest wildfires in American history.

In the film, McConaughey plays a wayward school bus driver who, along with a courageous teacher portrayed by Ferrera, must navigate hell on earth to save 22 children trapped in the fire’s deadly path. It’s a race against time through smoke, chaos, and fear—a survival mission where bravery is the only route out. With a stellar cast that also includes Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson, the film promises an ensemble performance packed with humanity and grit.

The Lost Bus is co-written by Greengrass and Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown), adapted from Lizzie Johnson’s haunting non-fiction book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire. The teaser already teases Greengrass’s signature style—intimate, urgent, and unflinchingly real—with handheld camera work and emotional close-ups bringing the terror and tension right into viewers' living rooms.

Set for release later in 2025, The Lost Bus isn’t just a disaster film—it’s a tribute to everyday heroes, a chilling reminder of climate reality, and a raw portrait of human resilience. If the teaser is anything to go by, this ride will leave you breathless—and maybe a little braver.
