Vikramaditya Motwane Reacts to Tragic Chinnaswamy Stadium Incident

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane has expressed deep concern over the tragic incident at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a stampede reportedly claimed the lives of seven fans following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) recent win. Motwane was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Kashish Pride Film Festival when he was asked about the incident that unfolded in the chaos of post-match celebrations.

 

Responding to the heartbreaking news, Motwane said, “If this has happened, this is bad, and as usual, whenever events like these happen in our society, we do not have adequate security. And it’s a shame that such things keep on happening, it’s an absolute shame.” He emphasized the need for verified information but didn’t hold back his criticism of recurring safety lapses at large public gatherings.

 

“I’d rather wait for confirmation before commenting,” he added. “But if it has happened, it is very tragic and very sad.” His statement reflects the frustration many feel about the lack of preparedness and crowd management at major events, especially in a country where such incidents have sadly become too familiar.

 

While official details are still emerging, Motwane’s comments highlight a broader systemic issue — the urgent need for improved public safety protocols at large-scale events.
