Ram Kapoor steps into the eccentric shoes of Armaan Mistry, a brilliant yet troubled detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder — India’s answer to Adrian Monk, originally played by Tony Shalhoub in the American hit that ran from 2002 to 2009. Mistry is a genius sleuth whose compulsions both hinder and heighten his detective skills, making him a chaotic enigma and an unmatched problem-solver in the world of crime.
Mona Singh, best known for her iconic role in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, plays ACP Sehmat Siddiqui, a strong and grounded officer who works closely with Mistry. The show also features Shikha Talsania (Wake Up Sid) and Kshitish Date (Mulshi Pattern), rounding out a dynamic and diverse ensemble cast.
The teaser, shared by JioHotstar with the caption, "Chaotic to some. An enigma to all. When it comes to unsolved mysteries, no man better than Mistry!" has already piqued interest among fans of detective dramas and long-time admirers of Kapoor and Singh’s chemistry.
Directed by Rishab Seth, Mistry marks the first South Asian adaptation of Monk following a licensing deal between Banijay Asia and NBCUniversal Formats, as part of a broader effort to bring globally successful formats to Indian audiences. The adaptation aims to maintain the heart of the original while layering it with cultural nuances and locally relevant storytelling.
With a quirky detective, complex cases, emotional undercurrents, and comic relief, Mistry is poised to offer both nostalgic charm and fresh intrigue to Indian viewers. Set your reminders — the mystery begins June 27, only on JioHotstar.
