Veteran actor Mukul Dev, known for his versatile work across Hindi, Punjabi, South Indian cinema, and television, has passed away at the age of 54. The cause of his death has not yet been made public, but the news has left the film and television industry shocked and heartbroken.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee expressed his grief on social media, calling Mukul "a brother in spirit" and mourning his untimely passing. "It’s impossible to put into words what I’m feeling," Bajpayee tweeted. "Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. Praying for strength and healing for his family and everyone grieving this loss. Miss you meri jaan…until we meet again, Om Shanti."

Vindu Dara Singh also paid an emotional tribute, remembering their time together fondly. “Rest in peace my brother #MukulDev! The time spent with you will always be cherished and #SonOfSardaar2 will be your swansong where you will spread joy and happiness to the viewers and make them fall down laughing!” he wrote.

Born on 17 September 1970 in New Delhi, Mukul Dev began his acting journey with the 1996 TV series Mumkin and made his film debut the same year in Dastak, starring alongside Sushmita Sen. Over nearly three decades, he carved a niche with memorable performances in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana, Son of Sardaar, R... Rajkumar, and Jai Ho. He worked across multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam, showcasing his range and dedication to the craft.

An alumnus of St. Columba’s School in Delhi, Mukul also held a certificate in aeronautics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Aviation in Raebareli — a testament to his diverse talents and interests beyond the screen.

Mukul Dev’s passing marks the loss of a gifted actor and a kind soul who left a lasting impression on audiences and colleagues alike. He is survived by his family, friends, and a body of work that will continue to entertain and inspire.
