Netflix Unveils Gripping Trailer for The Waterfront, a Coastal Thriller Rooted in Family and Secrets

Netflix has dropped the trailer for The Waterfront, an intense, character-driven drama inspired by true events and set along the rugged shores of coastal North Carolina. Premiering June 19th, 2025, the series centers on the powerful Buckley family, longtime rulers of Havenport’s fishing industry and culinary scene, as their dynasty teeters on the brink of collapse. With its moody cinematography, tense family dynamics, and a powerhouse cast, The Waterfront looks poised to make waves this summer.

 

Led by Holt McCallany as the ailing patriarch Harlan Buckley and Maria Bello as his steely wife Belle, the series explores how loyalty, ambition, and betrayal churn beneath the surface of this seemingly idyllic coastal town. As son Cane (Jake Weary) struggles to keep the family empire afloat, daughter Bree (Melissa Benoist) — a recovering addict fighting to regain custody of her son — becomes entangled in a dangerous relationship that could unravel everything the Buckleys have built. With Harlan's return to control, tensions boil over into a battle not just for the family business, but for survival itself.

 

The ensemble cast also features Topher Grace, Rafael L. Silva, Danielle Campbell, Humberly González, Brady Hepner, Dave Annable, Michael Gaston, Gerardo Celasco, and Zach Roerig. The storytelling is in confident hands, with Scream and Dawson’s Creek creator Kevin Williamson at the helm as series creator and showrunner. Co-written with Lloyd Gilyard Jr., Brenna Kouf, Michael Narducci, Hannah Schneider, and Katelyn Crabb, the script dives deep into the murky waters of legacy, addiction, and redemption.
