T-Series Marks 9 Years of ‘Sarbjit’: A Tribute to Courage, Injustice, and Enduring Love

On the 9th anniversary of Sarbjit, T-Series paid tribute to the powerful biographical drama that stirred hearts and shed light on a harrowing true story. Directed by Omung Kumar and released on May 20, 2016, the film chronicles the life of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was wrongfully convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan. Imprisoned for 23 years, Sarabjit's tragic ordeal exposed the fragility of justice and the deep complexities of cross-border tensions.

 

Central to the film’s emotional depth is the portrayal of Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit’s devoted sister, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Her tireless campaign to prove her brother’s innocence and bring him home serves as the emotional and moral anchor of the story. Randeep Hooda’s transformation into Sarabjit earned widespread acclaim, while the film’s raw narrative highlighted the human cost of political conflict and legal apathy.
