Suriya Starrer Retro Crosses 235 Crore Worldwide

The makers of Retro, the romantic action entertainer starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, have announced a massive box office milestone. Taking to social media, 2D Entertainment shared a new poster along with a heartfelt message, revealing that the film has collected ₹235 crore worldwide. “Dear Audience and #AnbaanaFans, we're humbled by your immense love and support for #TheOne. Grateful for the glory, it's all because of you,” read the caption, marking a proud moment for the team behind one of 2025’s biggest Tamil hits.

 

Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro blends action, romance, and mythic storytelling, offering audiences a gripping tale of identity, love, and destiny. The story follows Paarivel “Paari” Kannan, an orphan raised by a gangster, who embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover his origins while contending with betrayal and a violent cult. Suriya delivers a powerhouse performance as Paari, with Pooja Hegde adding emotional depth in her role as Rukmini, his lost love.

 

The film’s technical brilliance has also received widespread acclaim.
