Anupam Kher Unveils First Look as Col. Pratap Raina in Tanvi The Great

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has revealed the first look of his character from his upcoming directorial venture Tanvi The Great, in which he will also star as Colonel Pratap Raina. The poster, shared by Anupam Kher Studio, introduces a dignified, introspective character who, as described in the caption, “lets his silence speak louder than his words.” This marks a deeply personal project for Kher, who not only acts and directs but also penned the story himself.

 

Described as a heartfelt exploration of emotion, the film appears to delve into the quiet resilience of its protagonist and his evolving relationship with Tanvi—a character whose own understanding of silence challenges and transforms Raina’s world. The studio’s caption hints at a narrative full of humor, introspection, and emotional tension: “Sometimes it makes you laugh, and sometimes you are holding your tears back.”

 

Tanvi The Great features a strong ensemble cast, including Shubhangi Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Iain Glen, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Nasser, and Karan Tacker. With music by M.M. Keeravaani and lyrics by Kausar Munir, the film brings together top-tier talent from across India and beyond. The project is also backed by NFDC India, with involvement from industry names like Prithul Kumar and Herman Dsouza.

 

As an actor with over four decades in cinema and more than 500 films to his name, Anupam Kher’s return to direction with such a personal story adds to the anticipation surrounding the film. Tanvi The Great promises to be a deeply human story about connection, transformation, and the power of unspoken emotion—set to resonate with audiences both in India and internationally.

 

It is produced by Anupam Kher Studios in collaboration with NFDC. The film is also set to premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, within the Marche du Film, with music composed by Oscar-winner MM Keeravani.
