From SRK's Kaveri in Jawan to Kavya in Kull: Riddhi Dogra Finds Her Liberation On-Screen

After portraying the emotionally grounded Kaveri Amma, Shah Rukh Khan’s foster mother in Jawan, actress Riddhi Dogra is embracing a completely different shade of womanhood with her new role as Kavya Raisinggh in the series Kull. In a recent media interaction, Dogra candidly reflected on her need to feel liberated through her work and how Kull came to her at just the right time in her life.

“After Jawan, I was happy, but I knew I didn’t want to be anyone’s ‘Amma’ anymore,” Dogra said. “I wanted to be like a free bird, and that’s what Kavya represents for me. I always choose characters that give me some sort of emotional release or freedom in the moment I’m living, and Kavya gave me that.” Known for choosing layered, empowering roles, Dogra emphasized that playing Kavya was not just about storytelling—it was about personal catharsis.

In Kull, created by Ekta R. Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor and directed by Sahir Raza, Dogra plays the overlooked middle child in a royal family teetering on the edge of financial ruin. Kavya, burdened with saving the family estate, struggles with neglect from her father and the frustrating favoritism shown toward her younger brother, Prince Abhimanyu (played by Amol Parashar). The series delves into themes of legacy, identity, and unspoken family hierarchies.

With Kull, Riddhi Dogra steps into a character that is ambitious, conflicted, and ready to carve her own space in a world that keeps pushing her aside. The series not only marks a bold new chapter in her acting journey but also reaffirms her commitment to portraying women who are complex, real, and constantly evolving—much like herself.
