Prime Video Unveils Teaser for “We Were Liars” Series Adaptation

Prime Video has dropped a haunting teaser for its upcoming series We Were Liars, based on E. Lockhart’s best-selling novel of the same name. Set on a private New England island owned by the powerful Sinclair family, the story centers on 17-year-old Cadence “Cady” Sinclair Eastman, played by Emily Alyn Lind, who grapples with fragmented memories after a mysterious accident upends her privileged life.

 

Each summer, Cady reunites with her close-knit group of friends—fondly known as "the Liars"—for idyllic vacations that soon unravel into something darker. As secrets and lies start surfacing, the polished image of the Sinclair family begins to crack, exposing the emotional weight carried by each member. The series promises to blend psychological suspense with themes of grief, guilt, and identity.

 

The cast features a mix of rising stars and familiar faces, including Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, and David Morse. With Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie at the helm as co-showrunners and writers, and episodes directed by Erica Dunton and Nzingha Stewart, the creative team brings strong genre credentials to this adaptation.

 

We Were Liars is slated to premiere on June 18, 2025, and aims to captivate both fans of the novel and new viewers with its moody, atmospheric take on youth, memory, and the cost of silence. Will Cady uncover the truth—or will the island’s secrets remain buried forever?
