Malhotra’s announcement came during a star-studded panel moderated by renowned film critic Mayank Shekhar. The session featured some of the industry’s leading voices, including Aamir Khan, producers Ritesh Sidhwani and Dinesh Vijan, PVR Cinemas' Ajay Bijli, and Hollywood heavyweight Charles Roven. Speaking about his decade-long vision to bring the Ramayana to the world, Malhotra emphasized the need to blend cultural authenticity with technological sophistication. “We are making a story that is meant to go from India to the world,” he stated, passionately describing how AI-driven performance localization could make Ramayana feel native in any language.
Aamir Khan echoed the sentiment, adding that while Indian stories are rich in depth and character, they often remain confined due to language limitations. Malhotra pointed out that American films dominate global screens not just because of storytelling, but because language has never been a barrier for them. “Great content can transcend language,” Malhotra said, “but if we want our stories to reach the masses globally, we need to solve that challenge — and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
With this bold step, Ramayana is poised to become more than a film — it is a cultural bridge between India and the world, honoring a 5,000-year-old legacy with modern innovation. As anticipation builds, Malhotra’s vision signals a new era where Indian cinema doesn’t just travel — it speaks the world’s language, without losing its own.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana boasts a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and more. The epic film will use AI lip-sync technology to localize performances in global languages, making India’s timeless story accessible worldwide.
