Magnolia Pictures has dropped the tense, pulse-raising trailer for 40 Acres, an intense post-apocalyptic survival story that marks the feature debut of Canadian filmmaker RT Thorne. With haunting visuals and visceral stakes, the film offers a chilling glimpse into a world undone by plagues and war—and the razor-thin line between survival and sacrifice.

 

Set in a ravaged future where society has collapsed into scattered settlements and roaming threats, 40 Acres follows the Freemans, a family surviving in near-isolation on a fortified farmstead. Led by Hailey (Danielle Deadwyler), a battle-hardened former soldier, and her partner Galen (Michael Greyeyes), the family lives by strict rules and brutal self-reliance. But the fragile calm is ruptured when their teenage son Emanuel (Kataem O’Connor) steps beyond the farm’s fence and meets a mysterious girl (Milcania Diaz-Rojas), whose presence triggers a chain of consequences that may cost them everything.
