“Dasvi Celebrates 3 Years of Its Release with a Nostalgic Throwback”

The makers of Dasvi—starring Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautam, and Nimrat Kaur—are celebrating three years since the film's release with a fun, nostalgic twist. The official handle of Maddock Films shared a series of throwback clips and wrote, “Exam time hai, revision toh zaroori hai! Directed by debutante Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, in collaboration with Jio Studios and Bake My Cake Films, Dasvi is a social comedy that blends humor with a compelling message. The film follows Abhishek Bachchan’s character, an uneducated politician, who faces the unexpected challenge of preparing for his board exams while juggling political power. Yami Gautam plays the no-nonsense IPS officer determined to keep him in check, while Nimrat Kaur adds depth with her memorable performance as the strong, supportive wife.

 

Premiering on Netflix and JioCinema on April 7, 2022, Dasvi received mixed reviews. Critics praised its engaging storyline, sharp humor, and standout performances—especially by Bachchan, Kaur, and Gautam—while pointing out inconsistencies in the screenplay. Despite the mixed reception, the film struck a chord with audiences for its bold social message about education and personal growth.

 

Abhishek Bachchan’s portrayal of the politician-turned-student won him the Best Actor (Male) award at the 2022 Filmfare OTT Awards, cementing his place as one of the standout performers of the year.
