Akshara Singh on Bhojpuri Cinema’s Growth: ‘We Lack Good Writers and Budget

Known as the Bhojpuri Queen, Akshara Singh is once again making waves with her latest Holi song Jogira Sara Raa, where she not only features alongside Vishal Aditya Singh but also lends her voice to the catchy track. The song has quickly become a fan favourite, with listeners enjoying its lively beats and festive vibes. Akshara shared her excitement about the song and the Bhojpuri industry in a recent interview.

 

Talking about the song, Akshara said, 'The Holi song is here and it will be special for all Bihari fans. I am thankful to Vishal for giving us time for this song. We are bringing a different kind of Dhamaka for this Holi.' She continued, 'When we created this song for the first time in the studio, the words were in Hindi, but the essence was very much UP-Bihar. When you talk about UP and Bihar, Vishal's name immediately comes to mind, so I called him, and he said yes without hesitation.'"

 

Talking about the Bhojpuri industry, Akshara expressed her thoughts on its potential for growth: "We can only raise our fingers if we are at that stage to talk. There are shortcomings everywhere. The Bhojpuri industry, in particular, has a limited scope. We don't have good writers, and even if we do, we don't have the budget to invest heavily in them. As the scope and budget grow, better talent will emerge."

 

She further elaborated on her pride in her roots and language: "If we can't forget our mothers, how can we forget our language? People from all different regions carry their language with pride. Why should we be left behind? This has been the case for years, whether it was during the era of Govinda or Amitabh Bachchan. Until you connect with UP-Bihar, your film will not succeed. The essence of UP-Bihar is essential for a film to be successful."

 

Akshara's words highlight her pride in her roots and her vision for the Bhojpuri industry’s growth, where talent and better resources can elevate the sector and bring about positive changes. With artists like Akshara leading the way, there is hope that Bhojpuri cinema will continue to evolve and capture the hearts of audiences nationwide.
