Hoping That After Heeramandi, Audience Will See Me Differently Says Shekhar Suman

Shekhar Suman who plays the role of Zulfikar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut series Heermandi, said he hopes his role will change the perspective of the audience towards him. 

 

Shekhar Suman was interacting with media during a promotional event for Heeramandi series. 

 

Shekhar Suman sees his role in Bhansali's upcoming project, "Heeramandi," as the beginning of a new journey, hoping it will change the audience's perspective towards him. He said, “I want to do the roles which I desire, I want to surprise and shock the world and make them wonder, how did I do it. See, what the audience expects from me, is something I always deliver, but I want to go beyond that and deliver something unexpected. And I am hoping that with Heeramandi, I am starting on that journey, and it will change the perspective of the audience towards me.” 

 

Praising SLB for his vision, Shekhar said, “I knew about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s work like everyone else, and I think he has this strong emotional grip in his movies, there is grandeur in his movies but if doesn’t have soul, it is pointless. Every film he has ever done is amazing, people remember the characters from his film. He is like a painter, who is making a masterpiece with his colours and strokes, even negative characters from his films are loved” 

 

Heeramandi - The Diamond Bazaar, series created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, revolves around courtesans amidst Indian independence movement against the British Raj. It stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal, along with many others. The series starts streaming from 1st May 2024.
