New Delhi, Sep 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) The nominees contesting the Delhi University elections have made several key promises, such as providing concessional metro passes to the varsity students. Besides, the candidates have also promised to look into issues related to the safety of girl students, installation of sanitary napkin vending machines, affordable education etc.
Both Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and NSUI named their candidates on Friday.
ABVP has nominated Tushar Dedha to contest for the post of President Sushant Dhankar for Vice President, Aparajita for Secretary and Sachin Bainsla for Co-Secretary.
The campaigning for the student union election is currently underway. Hoardings have been put up along with the names of the candidates who are in the fray.
Meanwhile, the National Student Union of India (NSUI) has also announced its candidates for Delhi University Students Union (DUSU).
The NSUI on Friday said Hitesh Gulia would contest the election for the post of president.
Tushar Dedha said: "We would raise the issues of improving the infrastructure at Delhi University, the safety of female students, providing affordable education, upgrading the sports facilities, among other issues."
NSUI has announced candidates for all four posts in the DUSU -- Hitesh Gulia will contest for the post of President, Abhi Dahiya for Vice President, Yakshna Sharma for Secretary and Shubham Chaudhary for Joint Secretary.
A total of 97 candidates, including various student organizations and Independents, have filed nominations.
After the announcement of student union elections, various student organisations of Delhi University have also started their preparations.
All student organisations are making their own election strategies regarding the elections.
A Delhi University official said that after filing the nominations for the Student Union elections, the nomination papers will be scrutinised.
Only those candidates whose nominations are found correct during the scrutiny would be able to contest the elections.
